My letter to Mango

Mango, thank you so much for taking me to such a memorable date!!

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to say thank you to you about the date. As soon as I got back home, I fell into a deep sleep and didn't wake up for the next several days. I must have been very exhausted, having experienced so many exciting things in a short time!

To tell you the truth I don't remember that I went after the fox! As I have no memory during that episode, I didn't know what I had been doing during my memory loss until reading your blog posts about our date. I hope I didn't annoy you by my rudeness to leave you at the sushi restaurant before you ate anything. I wish I could have introduced some formidable Japanese cuisine to you, a pure American! My favorite sushi is Tuna Rolls - It's simple but tasty :-)

Also, I have to apologise Agatha for forcing her to work for me. Again I don't remember anything about it at all. I am actually very embarrassed to know that I had such a bossy side!

Going back to the earlier part of our date, I enjoyed break dancing with you so much, Mango!! I had never seen such a type of dancing before, but, because you are such a natural break dancer, I could join you to dance together with ease. Also, I want to say thank you to Norwood, Khyra, Dexter, and Asta for joining on the dance floor!

Lastly but not least, Chrome and Denise, you were wonderful too. Without your help, we wouldn't have been able to be back home unscathed from such a thrilling adventure.

More than anything I was extremely impressed as well as touched by your hospitality during this date!! Mango, you are the man among men!!

It's been very cold here down under. I hear that the temperature has been extremely high and it doesn't get much cooler even at night in your place. Take care of yourself and stay healthy, Mango.

Sincerely with love,
Cinnamon the Beagle

Protecting a toy is not such a bad thing

Hi! It's Cinnamon.

Do you like playing with a toy? I used to enjoy it as a puppy, but I don't have any particular interest in it anymore most of the time. Nevertheless, sometimes I suddenly feel like playing with a toy and go to our toy box to get a toy from it, and, once I have a toy in my mouth, I feel that I have to protect it so that no one can take it away from me. It seems humans call this kind of behaviour 'Resource Guarding' and they consider it as a bad behaviour they have to eliminate.

Today I suddenly felt the urge to get a toy from our toy box, and, as usual, I decided that I needed to protect it.

As you can see in the following video, Mint can't approach me when I am guarding a toy. Hee hee.

In the end I got two cookies. That means that 'resource guarding' is not such a bad thing, doesn't it?

I can't do my backward weaves anymore!

Hi. It's Cinnamon here.

Well, today I will show you how mean my Mum is!

Do you remember how I was doing my backward weaves in my new California Gurls routine that I performed for my special friend Honey the Great Dane's 'Dancing with the Doggie Stars Contest'? After seeing the video, many friends told me how impressive my backward weaves were. But, sadly I can't do my backward weaves, one of my favorite moves, anymore!

Look at this video! Mum stepped on my paw when we were practising my routine! It was so painful!! But, what do you think Mum did after that? She didn't have a look at my paw to check if I hadn't got injured. Instead, she just repeated the same move again and again! I understand that she was feeling guilty, but what she did was simply trying to make up for her mistake. Don't you think that she is very selfish?

As you can see in the video, I can't do good backward weaves anymore, as I simply can't put my paws close to Mum's feet anymore. How sad it is!

Mint is too good!

Hi! It's Cinnamon.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. We had a very good one. We went to Kawakawa Bay on Saturday, and on Sunday Mint went to All Breeds Dog Training Club Obedience Championship Show.

In fact Kawakawa Bay was one of places my humans were thinking about finding a new house for us, because they had heard that the area is not too far away from towns and houses are not too expensive. However, we didn't have a chance to visit there when my humans were still looking for a house to buy. So, they decided to visit there this weekend.

This bay has beaches, but at least the beach we walked on didn't look like what we usually imagine when you think of a beach. Beaches should have sand along the shore, shouldn't they? But, the beach we went to doesn't have sand and instead it has pebbles. Also, there were many dead snappers washed up on one side of the boat ramp and many oyster shells on the other side, so Mum didn't let us off leash to wander around, because she thought both the snappers and oyster shells were dangerous to us. Snappers have hard sharp bones, which might have hurt our stomach if we had eaten the fish. Oyster shells have sharp edges, which might have cut our paws easily if we had stepped on them. We still enjoyed a short walk there.

When Mint went to the obedience show on Sunday, I was left home with my Dad, because Mum thought it was not worth entering me in the trial. Yes, I have to admit that in my last trial I was like a Zombie and walked very slowly without following Mum closely. But, who can do such a boring thing without getting any food? So, this time I didn't mind being left home at all, and I enjoyed a nap on a couch while waiting for Mum and Mint to come home.

When they came back, they brought home a bag of various yummy treats and a blanket. When I saw them, I thought that they had dropped by Animates, which opened a new shop in our neighbourhood just recently, and Briscoes, which sell homeware. But, I was wrong. They turned out to be a prize that Mint had won in the obedience show. Mint won the Elementary in the show!!! Yes, he won!!! And he did it in his third trial! He was the third place in his first trial, the second in his second trial, and the first place in his third trial. It is amazing, isn't it? I am so proud of my little brother!!

My sister is wonderful!!

Hello readers. Who do you think I am? I am Mint! Yes, MINT!

Hee hee, I have taken over the blog while my sister Cinnamon is mooning over Mango Relentlessly Huge. But I am not going to tell ill of her. I am going to share my experience from which I learnt how great my sister is.

On Sunday we went to Waiatarua Reserve for a walk with some mates. As I am rarely allowed to be off leash, I was kind of over the moon when Mum let me off. I was also fascinated by the cloudy water that looked much darker than the water we usually drink. So, I couldn't resist the temptation to put my paws in the water. Then, after a while, I found myself on the other side of a stream of water. I don't remember how I got there. I wanted to go back to the side where my mum and sister were, but I couldn't because there was the water stream between us. I ran along the stream back and forth, trying to find a way back, but there wasn't a bridge or anything. It was at that time that my sister Cinnamon came across the stream, turned around, and went back to the side where Mum was! All I had to do was follow her, and I was finally with Mum!

Don't you think Cinnamon is great?

This video was taken just before I went across the stream. At the end of the video you can see a man on the bridge pointing at something. He was actually pointing at me, saying 'He is there.'
