Beagle Walk at Long Bay

Hi! It's Cinnamon.

On Saturday we went to a Beagle Walk for the first time in the last nine months. Usually the Auckland Beagle Club holds a Beagle Walk every other month, but my humans were so busy renovating the house, selling the house, moving into a rental house, buying a house, moving from the rental to our new house, and settling in the new house, that we missed some Beagle Walks. But finally we were able to attend one at Long Bay, North Shore, on Saturday.

I knew that my humans were discussing that they were not going to the walk if it rained, so, when I noticed in the morning that it had started raining, I almost cried 'Oh no!' But, as my humans were aware how much I had looked forward to the walk, they decided to head for Long Bay anyway, and come back if it rained and stay for the walk if it didn't.

Then...yay, it was not raining when we arrived at Long Bay!! When we arrived at the car park of the beach, there were several Beagles already.

So, we went to them and greeted them by sniffing their bums. Then, in return, they also greeted us by sniffing our bums.

Some humans were impressed how much Mint had grown since they last saw him. That's fair enough, as he was only seven months old when he attended a Beagle Walk last time. At that time he was smaller than me, but now he is much bigger than me.

Well, going back to talk about the walk, shortly after we set out for the walk on the beach, we found a HUGE driftwood! Of course, none of us Beagles could resist checking the smell of it, as it is our job to sniff everything suspicious.

On the beach we had a great time running around with other Beagle pals off the leash.

On the walk, we even met our new local blog friend, Monty the Beagle! He is young (seven months old) and so charming. You can find him in the above video, although we didn't get a chance to take a photo together. He is distinctive, as he looks like wearing a white pair of pants :-)

It was so much fun!! I hope we can attend the next Beagle Walk in August to catch up with our Beagle pals!!

My love appeal to Mango!!

Hi! It's Cinnamon.

Did you know that my star in the blog world, Mango the Mastiff, is looking for a girl to date with? If you didn't, visit here.

I think I deserve a dream date with him, because I have finally learned to do the Shy trick just recently! Mum tried to teach me this trick for the first time over a year and a half ago, but I couldn't do it without anything around or on my muzzle...until a few days ago.

Yes, that's right! I learned this trick to show it to Mango!! What do you think? Do you think that I deserve a dream date with him?

Flowers from Honey

Hi! It's Cinnamon.

This is an event that happened on Tuesday.

Who left those flowers by the front door?

We should check if we can eat them!

Oh, they are from our friend Honey the Great Dane!

Honey sent me these flowers because I had taken the role of a judge in her Dancing with the Doggie Stars Contest with Bodie and Charlie. Thank you Honey! It was hard but rewarding.

Crate training surrounded by many other dogs

Hi. It's Cinnamon.

Today I was so cross! Why? I was cross, because Mum put me into my little crate where I had to stay quiet while many other dogs were walking by. It was unfair, as while I was in the crate, Mint was doing some obedience training with Mum!

Last week Mum made a cover for the crate, because someone had recommended that she cover my crate so that I can't see outside. Yes, as some readers with wisdom may guess, Mum was looking for a way to keep me quiet around other dogs.

Although I can stay quiet fairly well in our training facility, even if some other dogs walk by, as long as Mum is with me and beside me. But sometimes I have to wait without Mum by my side when she is training Mint.

So, today she took my crate to our training and put me in it while Mint was training. I don't mind entering a crate and staying in there at home, or when Mum is around. But, if she leaves me alone and doesn't come back soon, usually I start barking. But today I didn't bark, and instead I scratched the crate to let Mum know that I was very unhappy. What do you think Mum did then? She KICKED the crate! Can you believe it? She is such a wild woman! I stayed quiet after that, because I didn't want Mum to kick the crate again.

Of course, I did some training with Mum after Mint's training finished, but it was a very short session. Anyway I am cross about what Mum did to me today. Don't you think my Mum is mean!?

My Blogger problem solved...and my new routine

Hi! It's Cinnamon.

My friend Honey the Great Dane gave me a workaround for a problem I was having in commenting on my friends' Blogger posts. So, now I can save my comments on my friends' posts! Honey, thank you so much for your advice.

By the way, did you realise that there is only one more day before entries to Honey's 'Dancing with the Doggie Stars' contest close. I am so excited, looking forward to seeing all the entries! Having seen some sneak peeks that Honey kindly showed us, I am sure that the judging is going to be extremely hard.

As a member of the judge panel, I did a guest performance for the contest. We were asked to do a guest performance two months ago, but Mum didn't really create a choreography for our new routine until mid May, and my performance was filmed at the end of May. She is always like that - She always leaves things until the last moment. But, I am such a cooperative dog that I did my best to dance as well as possible. Here is a video clip of my new routine specially prepared for the contest. I hope you enjoy watching it!

Mint's new agility class

Hi! It's Cinnamon.

After attending the beginner agility class from April to May, Mint advanced to the intermediate agility class this month. He had his first session in his new class last Thursday and ran a course with a twelve pole weave for the first time. Although he had done a six pole weave before, it was the first time he did a twelve pole weave. He did it brilliantly, if not perfectly. I have to say that I can do it much better, but what impressed me was that he did it without getting too much excited like I always do when I do weaves.

Mint's debut in an obedience competition

Hi! It's Cinnamon.

Mint finally made a debut in an obedience competition at Manukau Dog Training Club's Championship Obedience Tests. When we entered a competition in April, Mum took advantage of the opportunity and 'practised' with us using a toy and food, instead of competing. But, this time we actually competed!!

This time again I went first and Mint next. I think I did well enough to make Mum happy. But, apparently Mint did even better, so Mum chose him to do the Stays with, and he got placed the 3rd in the Elementary class!!

According to Mum, Mint got two points deducted in the Heelwork, because he stopped and turned back to see a dog that was practising in an unused ring next to our ring. She says that Mint did very well otherwise. Also, it turned out that my point deduction was only two pints and a half, which means that I might have been placed as well if I had done the Stays.

Sorry, this time we have no videos to show you because our cameraman, our dad, didn't go to the competition. But instead he took a photo of Mint with his ribbon and prize at home.

The next competition is two weeks away. I will do my best so that Mum chooses me to do the Stays with next time!

Before I go, I would like to remind my blog friends that I am not ignoring them. I still can't comment on my friends' Blogger blogs. I hope the problem will be solved soon!!
