Trick practise session in a park

Hi! It's Cinnamon!!

Today I will show you what I have been doing recently apart from playing with Mint.

This morning my Mum filmed a whole trick practise session that we had in a small park (off-leash dog exercise area) in our morning walk. The video is over eight minutes long and it looks a little foggy because the lens of Mum's camera was dirty. (Mum is so lazy about cleaning her camera!) So, watch it only if you don't mind wasting some of your time or you are really interested in my training.

A little more about Mint

Hi, it's Cinnamon!

Today I will tell you a little more about my brother, Mint.

As all of you know, he is a tricolour Beagle just like me. He was born on January the 24th, so he is eight and a half weeks old now. His pedigree name is Kenalis Candyman. Yes, it's another food-related name, after Crystal-Blaise Prada's Cookie (Cookie) and Kenalis Butterscotch Dream (It's me Cinnamon)! What is interesting is that he'd had this name already when my humans picked him from the litter without knowing what his name was. He must have been destined to become our family!

I think Mint is a really smart pup, as he learned to sit on command within a couple of days after he came to our house. He has learned to lie down also, but he still can't do it without being guided by my Mum's hand.

Another thing about Mint that impressed my humans as well as me is that he didn't keep crying at night like both Cookie and I did for the first few days in our new home. My humans say that Cookie kept crying in a weak voice for the first three nights in his new home, while I kept crying loudly like an avian dinosaur.

Mint did cry a couple of times at night, but it was only when he did poo on his toilet training pad. (He never misses the toilet training pads when he does pee or poo in his puppy pen! He hasn't learned to go back to the pads to do his business when the puppy pen is open and he is free in the room though.)

Besides the toilet training pads, my humans also made a toilet area at a corner of the garden by laying bricks around the area and filling it with gravels. Actually the toilet area was originally made for me a few months ago, but I have never used it because I am not used to doing my business at the same spot all the time. So far, Mint has been using it, so it was not a wasted effort by my humans after all I think.

Another thing my humans are happy about Mint is that he never tries to escape from his puppy pen unlike me (As a puppy, I escaped from my puppy pen repeatedly. But, my humans don't know how I made it, because there was no gap in the fence). When Mint wants to get out, he does cry, but he gives up after a while and goes back to his bed in his crate quietly.

More importantly I have been enjoying playing with Mint, and I have got used to being nipped on my tummy. I don't know why, but sometimes I feel like I am actually his mum... He is a little sweet boy. I think I can become his good older sister.

So far so good! I am SO happy to have a great company like Mint!

My little brother, Mint!!

Hi! It's Cinnamon!

I am sorry I didn't post on my blog or visit my friends' blogs for such a long time!! My Mum was so busy that she didn't get to help me do blogging.

Well, let me introduce my little brother, Mint.

When he came on Saturday, I was a little scared of him, because we had never had a puppy in our house after me. But, now that I know who he is, I enjoy playing with him, although I am sometimes fed up with him coming under me, pushing his mouth onto my tummy, and even nipping my tits!! Mum says he misses his own mum, but I AM NOT his mum!!

Well, my Mum is still really busy. So, I will quickly show you some photos of Mint today. Don't you think he is handsome?

Accompanying my humans to a restaurant

Hi, it's Cinnamon!

Today I went to a Japanese ramen noodle restaurant called TAKARA in Browns Bay with my humans. Although I couldn't get any share of the noodles, I got to get a dried sheep ear as a treat when we arrived at the restaurant. A waitress kindly brought a water bowl for me as soon as she saw me, so I could wet my tongue after I finished my dried sheep ear.

The restaurant had two tables outside as well as several inside. So, my humans sat at one of the tables outside and I sat behind my Mum's chair.

When my humans were waiting for their noodles, a group of four boys on skateboards passed by on a narrow footpath where our table was. Because the noise of the skateboards was so loud and scary, I couldn't help barking at them! I know my Mum wanted me to stay quite while we were there, but she still praised me a little because I stopped barking really soon. I used to keep barking for a long time even after something that triggered my barking was gone out of sight, but now I can calm myself down really quickly. After that, another couple of boys passed by on skateboards, but I didn't bark at them anymore, and then my Mum praised me even more!

Scary creatures!

Hi, it's Cinnamon!

On the weekend I had a strange experience. When my humans told me to jump on a car seat and set off for a drive, I thought they were taking me to another new park for a walk. But, after nearly two-hour drive, I found myself in font of these little creatures... They never stayed still, moving in a strange, wiggling way.

What made me even more confused was that my humans started to play with the creatures happily with a full smile! I was so upset that I did the last thing a lady should do ... drooling!

In the end, I was put in a pen. But, in the pen, I felt safe and my drooling stopped.

After we left the place, I was told that one of them was coming to our house in two weeks! Then I remembered that my Mum had shown me one of them.

My humans also told me that this one was going to be called 'Mint.' In two weeks? That's really soon!

Photo book "BEAGLE STORY 2009" and "Fetch!" magazine

Hi, it's Cinnamon!

On Saturday a parcel arrived from Japan, and in the box I found this special photo book of Cookie and me, "BEAGLE STORY 2009 - COOKIE AND CINNAMON"!

Back in January Mum found a special offer on a Japanese online content sharing website Life-X: 'An online photo book shop Photoback will make a photo book for you for free if you upload ten or more photos to an online photo album on our website'. So, we signed up for the campaign "Reflect back your memories from 2009" and got this special photo book for free!

It was not easy to choose only 36 photos for the photo book from a huge number of photos taken last year. In order to put as many photos as possible, Mum created a number of collages.

You can see some of the photos we chose for the photo book here! We are very happy to have such a great memorabilia that will be a fantastic tribute to Cookie!!

Although the first copy was free, my humans are now thinking about ordering an extra copy which costs 1,890 Japanese yen (about US$20), because the photo book came out so great! Yes, they have fallen for the shop's marketing tactic!!

Also, I have been in a magazine article recently, as I mentioned briefly in my previous post.

The magazine "Fetch!" is a new New Zealand dog mazagine launched in December. Late last year my friend Honey the Great Dane's human, Hsin-Yi, wrote an article about the Hound Racing Club that I belong to for the second issue of the magazine. She even interviewed my Mum! Thank you so much, Hsin-Yi!!

In the article they talk about Cookie as well, but the photos were taken after he crossed the rainbow bridge, so there is no photo of him in the article unfortunately.

Look at these! Can you find me on the pages?

I was so happy when Bella and Barry the Beagles, who I met at the last coursing of the Hound Racing Club, contacted me after finding me in this magazine!
