I've only seen Barry pee like a big boy once and that was only a few weeks ago. Bella on the other hand always tries to pee like a boy. Its hilarious seeing some of the positions she gets herself in!
Haha, oh Mint, once again I'm overcome by your cuteness, you look to be concentrating really hard hehe - Pepper will love to meet you, but she's still in her doggy kennel place :( Hopefully one day soon!
Hah! Looks like Mint is very advanced! Most boy dogs I've known squat until they are nearly 1 year old! Just make sure you tell your human not to let him get into the habit of constantly lifting his leg to mark things when he is out walking. Flip says male dogs get into this bad habit because people think it's necessary and let them - when in fact, they do not need to mark constantly any more than a female does. It just becomes a bad habit. Then it is not only annoying to have to stop constantly but also can be really embarrassing when they start lifting their leg on other people's bags or legs or furniture or whatever! That is because the owners encouraged marking behaviour.
Of course, it is normal for a dog (both male & female) to mark but they should learn to do it only at appropriate times, in appropriate places. Mint should learn that when he is on leash, he should empty his bladder at the beginning of the walk and then just walk - no more marking - unless he is let off-leash in a park, where of course, he is free to do what he likes. I also mark a lot when I am off-leash in the park - but when I am on-leash, I only go to the toilet and then I just walk.
Wow - Mint is growing up so fast!

cutex100. you'll start to kill plants soon ;p
ReplyDeletesapphire lifts her leg too- on fire hydrants/poles/tall grass. sigh.
Good job, Mint. Of course I save the actual leg lift for when it counts. No shame in squatting for when you just have to go.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango

It means now you have to explain to him about putting the toilet seat down! ;-)
