Walk at Kohimarama Beach in a break in the rain

Yesterday morning I opened the curtains of our bedroom and found this rainbow. Then, I quickly went to my study to fetch my camera, went outside, and took this photo, before letting Cookie and Cinnamon out from their crates, which is what I usually do as soon as I get up in the morning.

The weather has been so unstable in Auckland that it is hard to pick a break in the rain, which is long enough for a decent walk. We still managed to drive down to Kohimarama Beach to have a walk yesterday. Dogs are allowed off leash on the beach after 4pm. So, when we arrived around 4:40pm, there were so many dogs on the beach. When we left the beach, it was already getting dark, and as soon as we got in our car, it started raining again.

  1. Hi Cookie & Cinnamon,

Those are lovely photos! Aren't we lucky to live where we do?

We also love Winter because dogs are allowed on the inner city beaches after 4pm - no need to drive out to the West Coast! But my human prefers taking me to Mission Bay as the beach there is wider and there are also far fewer dogs...less chance of incidents! Coz unfortunately, my big size means that a lot of dogs who aren't confident and well-socialised can feel threatened by me and then they can get aggressive, if their owners don't control them...and I will defend myself if another dog attacks me...which means that if there is a fight, I will always get blamed because I am the bigger dog! So Hsin-Yi avoids taking me to places where there is a high concentration of dogs milling around - it's always better if there is more space and people keep moving!

But of course, it's fine for you guys coz you're small and unthreatenig! :-) Anyway, all the beaches are beautiful. I went too, on Friday, to Mission Bay and had a wonderful time!

Hey - I've just posted about a game I've been tagged to play by one of my other blog friends - why don't you join in too? But be quick! You have to be one of the first 3 to comment! :-)

  4. Hi there,
Lovely picture of the rainbow. The beagles look happy to be on the beach. Glad you could get a nice walk in before the rain. Thanks for tagging us in the sleeping tag. We will post about it very soon. Our story is very similar to yours. Jazz and Dixie have slept in a crate since we got them and they love their little houses. We just have to say "bedtime" and they go in without a hassle. They also use them as a safe house in times of loud noises or thunder. I read early on that beagles like to have a den and feel safe in there.
