Having our own dog was one of our dreams when we moved to Auckland in 2000. Our first home in Auckland was in an apartment building, where we were not allowed to bring in animals. After five months, we moved into a rented semi-detached house. Because most rented houses had a no-dog policy, we thought the house we rented also had a policy like that. But, one day, the owners of the house said 'You can have a dog' when we were talking with them about our dream of having a dog. At first we couldn't believe what they had said, but we quickly brought it into action. We went to see many different breeds of dogs at Pet Expo, checked breed guide books, decided to get a Beagle, and contacted a couple of Beagle breeders in Auckland. It was the beginning of our life centered around Beagles!

Happy Birthday Cookie!! Wow - I thought I was one of the older dogs around on the blogs but you're much older than I am! (Although we're quite close in human years, I think, coz I'm a bigger breed)
We LOVE-LOVE-LOVE your video slideshow!! It was so wonderful to see how you changed from a cute little puppy to such a lovely gentleman. My human really likes the song - what does it say?
You are so obviously loved - you are so lucky to have such wonderful humans as your family.
My human was just like yours! She always wanted a dog all her life but never could have one - and when they moved to NZ, she promised herself to get her dog at last. They even put all their money into a scary monster called "Mortgage" so that they could buy a house with a garden - so they could have a dog at last. She also researched breeds and went to shows for many years, before deciding on a Great Dane. They had to put their name on a waiting list for 1 yr for me, because there are not many Great Dane breeders around and they only wanted to buy from a responsible breeder who did health tests, like for hip dysplasia, and bred from dogs with good temperaments.
My human says that she feels she shares so many things with yours! It would be lovely to meet up and chat together sometime!
