Mum has been so busy that she couldn't help me post on my blog for such a long time!
Last weekend we did a dance demonstration again. As Dad didn't go with us, I don't have any photos from the event, Wag 'n Walk. But, my friend Bodie the Border Terrier's mum kindly asked her friend to video my performance (You can see it here). Thanks Bodie's mum and her friend!
Well, as you can see in the video, I didn't dance very well. In the first place, it was a very hard condition; we had to dance on a small stage with a narrow catwalk. Also, as soon as I got on the stage, I caught nice foodie smells under tables on the stage and couldn't help checking them. But, I couldn't reach the source of the smells because I was caught by a man, who was so mean that he took away a plastic tray for donuts and a cardboard box for a pizza that I had found!!
Then, just when Mum was trying to guide me to the starting position, the music started. Also, as I had never been on a stage before, I had to check every corner of it during our routine.
We are going to do this Lollipop routine once more at NDTA (National Dog Training Assembly) later this month. Although it is going to be our very first dance competition, Mum is thinking about making it the last time we will do this routine, as we have been doing the same routine since March.
Before I go, I will show you what a hard time I had to go through.

This strange object I am wearing is called an Elizabethan Collar. Have you ever had to wear it? I had to wear it for the first time recently. My vet says that I am allergic to a type of plant called Wandering Jew, so I had to be treated with some ointment and then wear this strange thing for an hour after that.
Aww you're allergic to wandering jew? But they are so pretty. :) Storm had to wear one of those collars when she was spayed. She did not enjoy it even one bit!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be back to watch your video. I can't watch it now unfortunately.
Oh Cinnamon - I saw your video when Bodie's human sent it to Hsin-Yi and I thought you did FANTASTICALLY!!! seriously, I couldn't believe how the organisers expected you doggies to dance on THAT! Ridiculous! If I was in NZ, I would have had to drop out coz there is no way I could probably even fit on the catwalk properly, never mind dance on it!
ReplyDeleteHsin-Yi says to tell your human that she thought you did REALLY well - and that it was a really obvious improvement from previous performances - even if your Mum doesn't think so! Humans always like to focus on the faults and think of all the mistakes but we thought you were so much more focused (in a MUCH harder environment!) and you performed many more of your tricks & moves on cue. Yeah, of course we always miss a few - you never get 100%! But Hsin-Yi always thinks with me that she's happy if I hit 60% of my tricks - and she's really happy if I manage 80%! :-)
I think it's a good idea to start a new routine after the NDTA. I start getting very bored of a routine if we do it for longer than a few months and also I start anticipating all the movces and doing them before the right time! :-) It's also fun to try new combinations of tricks & moves - and with new music. You learn something new with every new routine. I can't wait to see what you're going to come up with! We're working on a new routine too - to a Chinese song! Yup, Hsin-Yi has decided she'd like to do something totally different and so she's choreographing a new routine to Chinese music - ha! ha!
Anyway, well done about Wag n Walk - you should give yourself a huge pat on the back!!

Honey the Great Dane
I think Cinnamon looked great! That stage looked extremely small and very difficult to focus on. I can't wait to see your new routine!
ReplyDeleteI can see how distracted you were during your dance. Imagine leaving foodables on the stage. You were just trying to clean it up for your big performance. I think you were having fun, right?

ReplyDeleteYes, wondering jew's flowers are so pretty! But, I have a friend who is allergic to those flowers, which causes her sneeze a lot.

Thank you for another wonderful message! Yes, Mum says that now I can keep focused on her much better than before. But, the demo on the stage was just too difficult for me! I hope I can dance better in the upcoming competition.

Thanks for your comment. I look forward to my new routine too!

Yes, you are right. I had so much fun in the demo!
Oh the dreaded Cone of Shame. Such a tortuous device.
ReplyDeleteI had to wear the icky cone after I was spayed. Needless to say, I did not like it.
ReplyDeletePs. I agree with you. Between dancing and food, I would prefer food too:-)
Hello Cinnamon!
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed watching your dance. Great job especially on the last part! And good music choice, too.
Sad to hear about your allergy. Worry not about the cone, at least no itchyness. You also still managed to look adorable even with the cone. Be well, Cinnamon!

ReplyDeleteYes. It is no good to wear such a thing!

What can come first before food for Beagles!!

Oh, thank you for your compliments!
Hi Cinnamon! Long time no woof! I haven't heard from you in ages so I thought I'd pop by to say hello and see how you are. I remembered that you had a big competition coming up - the NDTA - have you done it yet? How did it go?
ReplyDeleteWhen you've got time, pop over to my blog - I just posted about a new dance step I'm learning, which Hsin-Yi is going to put in our new routine to Chinese music - have you learnt any new dance steps lately?
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
Cinnamon!!?? We haven't heard for you in such a long time. How are you? Like Honey, I'm wondering how you got on at NDTA this past weekend. Hope all is well
